Gold Dog Consulting provides coaching, consultation and solutions to people who want more than just a job and to employers who want to create a thriving workplace.
Cindy has walked the corridors of corporate, non-profit, and government sectors, experiencing the spectrum of leadership from the disheartening to the inspiring. She knows firsthand how demotivating it can be to report to a leader who is self-interested and lacks vision.
This insight fuels the mission of Gold Dog Consulting: to develop better leaders who achieve better results. Because everyone deserves to feel valued.
Cindy empowers both leaders and their teams to create thriving, successful workplaces. Together, we can build a world where leadership inspires and everyone feels valued.
Cindy lives in Oregon with her husband Ken, and three Gold Dogs: Amu, Zasu and Pala.
Gold Dog Consulting was formed in 2009 by Cindy Hooker; U.S. Navy Veteran, Certified Coach and Human Resources Professional.
After surviving lay-offs, upper management mayhem, being asked to falsify documentation and experiencing downright poor leadership, Cindy decided she would dedicate her efforts to help improve these conditions and build better businesses.
Cindy taught college English Composition, Business Writing and Human Resources Management. Her passion for education and extensive experience are the catalyst for helping people perform at their best. Cindy labors together with her clients to achieve personal and professional growth and success.
In addition to being a trained coach, Cindy holds four certifications, International Coach Federation Professional Certified Coach (PCC), Certified Co-Active Coach (CPCC), Positive Psychology Coach, and Advanced Group Leadership Coach. Cindy has 20+ years of experience in Human Resources and Leadership Training. She has a Master’s Degree in English and also has a background in Education.
“I shouldn’t be here. Really… I shouldn’t. At age 15, I dropped out of high school. I didn’t really have any goals, but I did have a vision. I knew eventually I wanted an education, but on my terms.
After I dropped out of HS and got my GED, I worked at Kmart, at a restaurant as a hostess, in production at a factory and I even became a travel agent. Finally, I landed in the Navy. I worked hard to become a supervisor and make rank and more money. I made friends and traveled the world. I maintained my vision for an education and started college classes in the Navy. While the Navy served me well and I was recommended for Officer School, I opted to get out and get that college degree.
In spite of my background, I knew that I would succeed in college. My vision was to be the first person to graduate from college in my family. While it took me 6 years, I graduated with a 3.6 GPA. The odds were against me. 78% of those who attain a GED enroll in two year programs, and only 12% of those, finish.
My visions were intrinsic. They mattered to me and not to anyone else. They brought me an education, friends, status and income. That took me away from the life that I might have had as a high school drop out. In order to really be truly effective, our goals have to have an emotional connection to us.”
My life experiences have given me a deep empathy for those who face challenges and uncertainty. That, coupled with my signature strengths of unconditionally and connection create a safe and non-judgmental environment for my clients.
How we talk to ourselves and think about ourselves has substantial effect on “who” we become. For many of us, those beliefs interfere with our ability to inspire others, to really hear them and to lead them to success.
I help leaders overwrite their old stories to become authentic, intentional and compassionate. A leader’s career is measured by the people they have promoted, so let’s get started on that investment. That starts with you.
Let’s have a conversation and see if we can move you to the next level.
I possess more than 20 years in the field of Human Resources and Training Leadership, and have had the opportunity to coach hundreds of Leaders, Managers and Employees across many different industries.
I would love to help you claim your leadership presence.
