31-Day Blog Challenge Day 6

My Five Senses Right Now

I live in Oregon and yesterday, and most likely today, we have achieved our highest rainfall in recorded history. If you have ever lived in the Pacific Northwest, you will know that it’s not the rain that gets to you, it’s the gray. It is gray today. Gray and wet, wet, wet.

My sight. It’s dark and gimg_49101loomy. Check-out the photo below. I’ve had my lights on all day. I feel kind of lazy, and not quite fully awake. While I’ve been working, I have been watching my neighbor on his roof repairing lost shingles. With 20-30 mph winds and the rain, he’s been a real trooper out there most of the day.

My hearing. There has been a constant roar of the rain outside.

My touch. Even though it is December, it is a warm balmy 61 degrees. Warm and wet.

Taste. Because of the gloom and rain, I’ve been drinking warm liquids all day. I love my chai, and maybe after dinner, I will have a coffee and ginger snap liquor.

Smell. We have three golden retrievers. Their coats dry slowly. Thankfully, they have had baths recently, but I do smell wet dog.  Yes, they are in the house with me; I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am grateful for my warm and cozy home, and that I live on high ground with my wet dogs and my tea. I am looking forward to a cozy evening with my husband.
